Stamullen M. Donnelly Road Club will promote the Leinster Road Race Championships this weekend in conjunction with the Brendan Campbell Memorial races.
Based in Donore village, the races will as usual be open to all riders, but this year will also count as the Leinster Championships for all categories. With Leinster being the only province not to hold their championships yet, the race organisers sought permission to run the race within a race. With Ras Luimni now cancelled a massive field is expected to descend on the tiny village.
Medals will be awarded to the first three Leinster riders in all categories including underage. The senior races start at 2pm with the underage beginning at 12pm. Further details can be had at 0872040959 or 01 8411352.
NOTE FROM THE ORGANISING CLUB:
There’s a lot of confusion surrounding this event and I would like it made clear that the Brendan Campbell Memorial Races in Donore on Sunday are OPEN races.
We were asked by the Leinster Cycling Federation to use this event as the Leinster Road Race Championships, we agreed, and this is causing confusion. I suppose you could call it an intergrated race – not separate races, not races confined to riders from Leinster, but open to cyclists for all 4 Provinces.
