Midleton Cycling & Tri Club are running the 2nd Annual “Stephen Roche TOUR DE CURE in association with MyHome.ie" Charity Cycle Sportif on Saturday, 8th May 2010, with start and finish in Midleton Co Cork.

The 3 routes will loop through the beautiful East Cork and Waterford Counties, in addition to an extra family run route this year which will be a 15km ride around the boundaries of the towns countryside.

The organisers are happy to have on board some top sponsors and household brands who are helping cover the cost of organising this large event, most notably MyHome.ie who is this year’s Title Sponsor (Irelands Leading Property Portal, http://www.myhome.ie), Corks Sports Partnership (Increasing the number of people participating in sport, exercise and physical activity in Cork, http://www.cclsp.com ) and Johnson & Johnson ( http://www.jnj.com/connect/caring/initiatives  ).

The legendary Stephen Roche [one of Ireland’s most famous sporting sons] is centrally associated with the event once again and will be riding the routes with as many participants in the hope of raising significant funds to support 2010's three selected great causes ( Charity List ). These are,

The new CT has a key role to play in cancer diagnosis and cancer treatments (monitoring cancer growth etc). It also will enable the hospital to introduce Cardiac Screening Services for those at risk of stroke or conditions like SADS.)

COPE Foundation - fulfilling the Potential of Persons with Intellectual Disability across Cork. (they are building 3 single storey houses incorporating 14 beds and a large day centre which will provide respite for intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, this is costing €1.8million )

The Anaphylaxis Campaign – (Anaphylaxis is the medical term given to a severe allergic reaction which affects the whole body. In its most extreme form, this reaction results in a person going into "anaphylactic shock" which can be fatal. There is a growing list of everyday items which can give rise to anaphylactic shock for some people, including food, insect stings and drugs. The campaign is about providing information to people)
