28th & 29th November 2009

Note: There has been a great uptake on the Sportactive/Sean Kelly training camp. Extra places have been made available for the weekend, which is sure to be a big success.

Please note that a good level of fitness is required, and so this is geared more towards those who are training often rather than doing occasional leisure rides. It's also aimed towards those over sixteen years of age.

A promotion with the Zip Vit nutrition company will see samples being given out free of charge during the weekend. For more details and to book, read onwards...

The month of November is not usually associated with training camps. However, any cyclists with any ambitions for 2010, whether to be a world champion or gain a better time in a sportive, should have started the first phase of their preparations in October and by the end of November will be thinking of the next phase in their programme for success.

This is why SportActive has initiated a training weekend to help you gain the knowledge and advice to ensure you are doing the most effective type of training for this phase of your preparation. Many cyclists can do incorrect training during this period of the year which results in poor core conditioning. In turn, this can result in under-performance when you are trying to achieve your goals.

The training weekend is designed to keep you focused on the correct training and give you knowledge on the next steps you will need to take. To make sure you are getting the best advice, SportActive has tied in with the great Sean Kelly; no introduction is needed for Sean who is acknowledged as being one of the world’s best-ever cyclists. The knowledge and experience he brings to any environment is beyond question and he will be at this training weekend to pass his experiences on to everyone and answer any questions or queries you may have.

Aligned to the principles of the SportActive Cycling Centre in Mallorca, this training weekend is to enhance and develop all abilities of cyclists and will take place over the weekend of November 28 -29. It is based at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel, Buncrana, Co. Donegal. SportActive has negotiated a package with the hotel of 56 € per night for four course dinner B&B pps. (Single supplement applies).

Agenda of the weekend:

Saturday 28th November 2009 : 100 km guided bike ride with Sean; departure 11 am ; marked and marshalled route

Saturday 28th November 2009, after dinner, in the hotel conference room :

- film show

- informal presentation by Sean

- question and answer seminar.

Sunday 29th November 2009: 90 km guided bike ride with Sean; departure 10 am

Entry to the bike rides : 10 € each day.

The rides, as advised by Sean, will be geared to off season requirements and will be flat to undulating in profile.

Further information can be obtained by visiting www.sportactive.net or by contacting Martin Birney direct on 00353 861 966 006 or 0044 07 599 719 179.

The hotel can be booked directly by contacting Inishowen Gateway Hotel, Buncrana, Co. Donegal on 00353 936 1144 and quoting SportActive. There are a limited number of spaces for ‘dinner only’ so book early to ensure a place.

This will be a great opportunity. All those involved in the organisation of it look forward to seeing everyone in Donegal at the end of November.
