Background:
Cycling Ireland (CI) has an exciting
opportunity for a talented and ambitious individual to work within its coaching
and sporting programmes. CI is looking to employ a National Sprocket Rocket
Co-ordinator to work on the rollout of a new skills based programme to existing
clubs and schools throughout Ireland. The first phase of this rollout will focus
primarily on Leinster. In the first instance this role is on a 1 year fixed term
contract. Subject to further funding the role will be reviewed and renewed on an
annual basis.
National Sprocket Rocket Co-ordinator:
The National Sprocket Rocket Co-ordinator
will be principally responsible for facilitating the rollout of new Subway
sponsored Sprocket Rocket Skills based Programme. The National Sprocket Rocket
Co-ordinator will also be responsible for monitoring the rollout of the skills
programme and to assist in the development of future modules. This role will
require duties to extend to flexible working arrangements. Including weekend and
possible evening time commitments.
Duties
will include:
- Promote and raise awareness of Sprocket Rocket and other CI programmes
- Establish and maintain relationships with existing clubs and local schools
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all partners
and community organisations
- Facilitate the implementation and rollout of Sprocket Rocket and other CI
programmes
- Provide support to clubs and schools throughout the delivery and rollout
of Sprocket Rocket and other CI programmes
- Develop and drive initiatives to increase programme up-take
- Actively recruit Clubs and Coaches into Sprocket Rocket Programme
- Take positive steps to encourage and increase participation in youth
cycling
- Facilitate and deliver Sprocket Rocket tutor training courses
- Occasionally may be required to deliver Sprocket Rocket Programme
- Carry out administrative duties, including collating and maintaining
participation data and producing written reports
- Attend meetings with clubs, schools and other key partners
- Assist with the development of future modules by working with Commissions
and Coach Education Officer

Hold a recognised
coaching qualification

Experience of coaching in a range of
sporting environments including schools, clubs and community
settings.
Have some Cycling experience

Demonstrable experience of working
for at least one year full-time or part- time in a Sports
Environment.
Experience of working with
Volunteers.
An understanding of legislation
relevant to sports organizations to include child protection,
health and safety, data protection, equity etc.

Experience and knowledge of sports
development, including club and coach development
Experience of Coaching young
people
Demonstrable experience of
applying and selling innovative and challenging ideas in a work
or sporting environment.
Competence in budgeting and
financial management.

communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise
reports.
Full clean driving license.
