Sports Administrator

Job Description

Job Title: Cycling Ireland Sports Administrator
Responsible to: Cycling Ireland National Liaison Officer
Contract Duration: Permanent Position
Responsible for: Office administration and High Performance Logistics
Hours of work: 39 hours per week
Salary: €24,000-€27,000 depending on experience
Location: Dublin

Background:

Cycling Ireland is the National Governing Body for the sport of Cycling in Ireland with approximately 5,500 members in over 170 clubs around the country. A vacancy exists for a talented and ambitious individual to join our office staff. There are currently five full time and three part-time staff members employed.

Duties will include:

  • Adherence to Cycling Ireland policies and procedures and rules as set out in the Employee Handbook
  • Management of office correspondence
  • Dealing with member’s queries by phone and email
  • Distribution and preparation of member’s licenses
  • Collation of Information for Cycling Yearbook for going to print
  • To assist with book-keeping, lodgements and financial recording
  • Content maintenance of Cycling Ireland Website
  • Organising travel arrangements for High Performance Squads and Officials
  • Administrative support to all High Performance Teams
  • Logistical management of HP resources and equipment based in the CI office and at external sites
  • Management of HP vehicles in Ireland and abroad
  • To provide assistance to the Cycling Ireland Staff in the delivery of the Cycling Ireland 2009-2014 strategy and the High Performance Strategy.
  • Candidates should note that this list does not represent an exhaustive list and is subject to change as the job requires.
  • This position will require an amount of weekend availability.

Person specification:

  ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
Qualification & Attainments 5 Leaving Certificate passes 2 of which must be English or Maths (or equivalent qualification)

Computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.

Fluent in English Language

Third level qualification

Formal IT training.

Experience of Sage accounting package

Additional European Language

Relevant Experience At least 2 years experience in a similar role

Competence in budgeting and financial management with previous experience.

3 years experience in a similar role

Experience of working with volunteers.

Special Aptitudes Excellent literary and communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise reports.

Logistical ability to organise equipment and resources.

Excellent organisational skills.

Previous experience in a logistical role

Knowledge of Cycling

General Aptitudes Must be able to act on personal initiative and take decisions within policy.  
Disposition Good Interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Ability to be self-motivated, resourceful, work on own initiative in a flexible and co-operative manner.

 
Circumstances Ability to work out of normal office hours.

Be prepared to undertake training in any relevant job related area.

Full clean driving license.
