People in Meath are encouraged to dust down their cycling shorts and track suits, put on their helmets and get on their bikes, as part of a massive cycling event the An Post Meath Heritage Cycle Tour which takes place on Sunday 5th July 2009.

40km Family Cycle – Start 10.30am Trim Castle – through town of Trim out the R154 to Motte, turn left at Scurlockstown Bridge – through townsland of Trubley, Bective, turning right into Assey, Balgeeth, turn right onto the Riverstown/Kilmessan road and then left into townslands of Odder into Castleboy – turn left up to Hill of Tara, back down into townslands of Jordanstown, left and then right into Bellinter and left past Bellinter bridge into Grange, right and then left into townslands of Bellewstown, Shanbo, Rataine, Dunderry – left in Dunderry and atraight back into Trim, finish Trim Castle. SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A few things before you get started...
Make sure that you have decided which route you wish to enter for: 

Route Entry Fee  Minimum Age Requiment 
on 05/07/09 
Family Spin 40km  €5 child/ €10 adult  16 years 
Royal Tour 100km  €25 per peson  16 years
Royal Challenge 160km  €30 per peson 16 years

The entry fees shown above apply to entries received by the closing date of: Friday 26th June 2009. Entries received after this date will incur a late entry penalty as follows: 

  • Family Spin 40km additional €10 per person
  • Royal Tour 100km additional €10 per person
  • Royal Challenge 160km additional €10 per person

A few points of note... 

  • The entry fee includes your T-Shirt, certificate, refreshments during and after the event, use of changing and shower facilities at the start/finish, and use of various support services during the event
  • The entry fee is non-refundable
  • Cheques should be crossed and made payable to ‘Meath Local Sports Partnership’ 
  • Euro cheques/ postal orders/bank drafts will be accepted 
  • Under no circumstances should cash be sent in the post
  • On line payments through our online application process will be by Credit Card by arrangement with our payment partner Active Europe. All major credit cards are accepted. Payment uses SSL Encryption by Paypal, and your credit card details will never be visible to the organisers of the An Post Meath Heritage Cycle Tour

To support your preparations for the An Post Meath Heritage Cycle Tour, Meath Local Sports Partnership in conjunction with the following Cycling Clubs have organised recreational spins below:

  • Navan Road Club: Thursday 7.30pm & Sunday 10.30am From Teach Tailteann ( Formerly Balreask Arms) Monday 6.30pm from Cannistown N.S for Under 16s. And in Kells: Saturday June 13th 10am. Swimming Pool
  • Bohermeen Cycling Club: Tuesday 7pm & Sunday 10am. Bohermeen Community Centre
