Irish Road Club is the new president of the Irish Cycling Federation. He takes
over from Pat McQuaid, who had completed his term in office. In the ballot at
the a.g.m. in Malahide on Saturday Lawless won with 63 votes to 48 for th ICF to

president of the Irish Cycling Federation will be elected at the a.g.m. in
Malahide tomorrow. Pat McQuaid has to stand down after two terms of two years in

The aim of the five Irish representatives in the B World Championship road race
at Punta del Esta, near Montevideo in Uruguay, on Sunday is to get a man to
finish among the top seven nations to qualify Ireland for on Seymour

the Olympic mountain bike race at Sydney already secured, he enhanced his
position in the world rankings again from 56th to 53rd by finishing sixth in the

Teams of five will represent Ireland in the under-23 race at the world
championships at Verona in northern Italy today and in the junior event
tomorrow. No Irishman has attained the standard requi ICU to
relax anti doping rules. (Oct 6, 1999). The International
Cycling Union (UCI) said yesterday that some riders will be let off with a
warning in future if they are found to have taken "light" drugs
