CTC IRELAND
Runs
List August à
November 2002
We
are a Dublin-based cycling club specialising in leisure cycling. We organise
cycling runs throughout the year and over holiday weekends.
We cater for touring cyclists of all ages who enjoy an evenly-paced half
day or full day cycle along the quiet country roads that are a feature of the
counties surrounding Dublin city. We rarely pass a good coffee shop either! We
are also full members of the international Cyclists' Touring Club (CTC)

What is CTC? Aren’t you just a touring
organisation?
No. We are the only national body campaigning for cyclists’ rights,
facilities, routes and representation in local, national government and other
agencies.
We act for all types of cyclist including commuters, mountain bikers, families,
leisure and long distance riders. We played a key role in the formation of the
government’s National Cycling Strategy.
When was CTC formed?
In 1878. We are the oldest cycling organisation in the UK and probably the
world.
How many members do you have?
There are currently 70,000 members and affiliates.
So what does CTC membership include?
Membership means free £5m public liability cover and free legal aid. Two
members were recently awarded a total of £1m in damages following serious road
accidents.
Our experts can advise on all things cycling including what sort of bike to buy,
how much to spend and what to take with you when you cycle.
We publish numerous booklets, leaflets and information sheets in addition to
worldwide route details, and a bi-monthly magazine.
Our network of local groups running weekly rides caters for cyclists in every
part of the UK.
