20 THINGS YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK ……… DENIS LYNCH

Denis Lynch 20 QUESTIONS:

1. What is your age and date of birth?:

I am 21. I was born on the 22nd of September 1981

2. What club do you race with?:

VC La Pomme, in Marseille

3. How did you get started in cycling? What do you like about the sport?

I first started with some friends. It is good craic travelling to the different races.

4. What was your first win? What was your best, and why?

The first was in some under 14 race. The best wins were the two I got in the Tour des Alpes last year.

5. How often do you train?

I train 5 or 6 days a week.

6. What is your favourite training spin?

I don’t have any particular favourite, but I like doing a different spin every day.

7. What is your best result / performance to date?

Same answer as to question four – my performance in the Tour des Alpes last June.

8. What is your ambition in life? How do you plan to work towards that goal?

My goal is to be a professional cyclist. And so I am aiming to try to get some good results this season.

9. Who is your favourite professional cyclist, and why?

It would have to be the motorbike from Sligo (Scanlon), because he gets results the hard way – by training.

10. Who is the biggest influence in your life, and why?

No one in particular.

11. How do you relax?

Getting p**sed….not!

12. What is your favourite cd?

Shakira’s album….it is very good.

13. Apart from Ireland, where have you raced?

I have raced in Italy, France, Belgium, Japan, Malaysia, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, Scotland and Switzerland.

14. Who do you think will be the next Irish rider to win a Tour De France stage?

Mark Scanlon

15. What is your favourite race?

I don’t have any.

16. Who is the best rider you have competed against? What impresses you about him?

No-one has impressed me that much.

17. Have you tried mountainbiking? How did you get on?

No, I haven’t tried it yet.

18. What qualities makes you a good cyclist ?

I enjoy hard races.

19. When the time comes, would you encourage your kids take up the sport, and if so, why?

Anything but cycling!

20. Describe yourself in one sentence?

Stupid to be a cyclist? (I still haven’t found the answer.)
