Donal Crowley Memorial Sportive 2009

189 cyclists braved the cold weather to cycle in the preliminary Blarney Cycling Club Donal Crowley Memorial Sportive on the 4th January, cyclists from all over Munster and old friends from the U.S. turned up to pay their respect to Donal and his family.

10 years ago this week Donal Crowley died after been hit by a car in Co. Cork. The accident happened close to Donal's home in Blarney, he was out training on a Tuesday night and was cycling in the wide hard shoulder of the main Cork-Mallow road. He was hit from a car travelling in the same direction. Donal was 44 years old and had been a life long member of the Blarney Cycling Club.
