Philip Cassidy from City Break Apartments said, "As a two-time winner of the event, I have a proud connection with ‘The Rás,’ and I’m delighted that City Break Apartments can continue to support such a marvellous event. We wish all riders a safe and enjoyable week. See you at the finish line!”

Cairde Rás Tailteann is delighted to announce our twelfth visiting team for the 2024 event: SPIRIT TBW STUART HALL CYCLING, who return to the event for the third consecutive year.

SPIRIT TBW STUART HALL CYCLING is the oldest elite team still in existence in the UK. Last year, then racing as ‘Embark Spirit BSS’, the team finished 4th on general classification after missing out on the critical split on the last day.

Speaking ahead of the 2024 event, Russell Rowles (Founder and Team Principal of SPIRIT TBW STUART HALL CYCLING) said, “We come into this year’s race with high hopes of improving on the results of previous years. Our squad for 2024 is much smaller than previous seasons and consists of quality rather than quantity, with an emphasis on U23 rider development coupled with a tough European race calendar”.

When asked about preparations for the event, Mr Rowles said “We will prepare in the usual ‘Spirit’ way by gaining a great team bond and ethic whilst racing aggressively and to plan leading up to the start of the event. We will race to win and roll the dice once the flag drops on ‘The Rás’. If successful, we will rejoice; if we fail, we will dust ourselves down and try again the following day”.

Mr Rowles is joined by Team Manager, Josh Parkin who added “One thing we will definitely enjoy is the hospitality and the warmth of the Irish people and the cycling scene in Ireland. We look forward to saying hello and having good craic with people we now consider friends. Our team for Rás Tailteann 2024 has two riders going for GC in a two-pronged attack, and the other three will be in full support of the GC men.

‘Spirit’ have a marquee signing in Will Perrett. Will has performed at international level in his speciality track event, the gruelling points race, over the last few seasons. He also competes in the Champions Track League and rides for GB in European and World Events. He won Gold in Hong Kong earlier this season, so don’t be surprised to see Will appearing at the sharp end of each stage when the going gets tough.”

Race Director Ger Campbell said, “We are so happy to have Spirit return to the event again this year. Russell and Josh have been eager to come to ‘The Rás’ since its return was first mooted in 2019. Unfortunately, it was delayed until 2022, but they brought a big squad and an even bigger personality when they arrived. They are certainly a team to watch for results but also for having the craic!”

Visiting Team 13 – Canel’s Java Pro Cycling – Mexico

Cairde Rás Tailteann is delighted to announce our thirteenth visiting team of the 2024 event: Canel’s Java Pro Cycling, who will make their debut in the 2024 event.

Canel’s Java Pro Cycling is a UCI Continental Team from Mexico. In its 39 years of existence, it has established itself as one of the leading teams in Mexico and, indeed, the North American continent. They are the team with the most stage victories, general classifications, mountain classifications, points classifications, and team placings at UCI events in all of Mexico. Team Manager Juan José Monsivais said, “These results have only been possible with the support of GRUPO CANEL'S, a company that produces the best-selling Mexican chewing gum in the USA with a presence in more than 40 countries”.

Team Canel’s Java Pro Cycling have the results to back up their confidence with stage wins in UCI 2.2 events Vuelta a Guatemala and Vuelta Ecuador. Leading Team Canel’s Pro Cycling in the 2024 event is Cormac McGeough, who was runner-up in the 2023 event. Speaking to McGeough, he simply said “I want to do one better in 2024”.

Welcoming Canel’s Java Pro Cycling to the event, Ger Campbell said “We are delighted to welcome this team to the event. The interest from across the world has been overwhelming, and we were delighted to see further growth in the North American Continent. They have performed extremely well in some of the world’s hardest UCI 2.2 events, and they will certainly be a squad likely to take results in the 2024 event”.

Team Manager, Juan José Monsivais, said he couldn’t wait to “see what the Irish roads and mountains have to offer” and hopes one of his team will be standing on the top step of the podium in Bective on May 26th.

The team is now competing for its 6th season on the continental circuits, balancing their schedule in the USA and through their base in Italy. Speaking to Team Skyline ahead of the event, they said “We are very pleased to be competing in the Rás Tailteann. The race has a rich heritage in Ireland, and some of the riders and staff have ridden the race in previous years. It will be an honourable moment to take to the start line with 3 Irish riders. We have a dynamic team where each rider will have different strengths and roles. To win this race with an Irish rider would be something very special for the history books”.

So far this year, Team Skyline – CADENCE has competed in UCI races in Greece, USA, Italy, and Norway, with numerous top 10 places. They will come into the race with eyes on the GC and stage results. Very notable, Adam Lewis, one of the squad members for Rás Tailteann 2024, was runner-up in last weekend's Lincoln GP in the UK.

Welcoming Team Skyline-CADENCE to the event, Race Director Ger Campbell said “We are delighted to welcome this team to Rás Tailteann 2024. With very notable results and a roster strong of Irish riders, we knew this team was a perfect fit for the event. After Adam Lewis’s strong performance in the Lincoln GP last weekend and Conn McDunphy’s County Jersey win in 2023, they are certainly a team that is likely to take results”.
