Merseysider Eddie Soens was a huge figure in British cycling, a successful cyclist who in his later years got involved in coaching and went on to coach of the British national team. Numerus top cyclists both in the UK and internationally were under his wing. In the past he even was a bicycle maker in Liverpool. His knowledge and experience in cycling was second to none.

In 1982 Pat McQuaid was the Irish Cycling team manager and in preparing for the 1984 Los Angelus Olympics he organised an open 'Pre-Season Cycling Training Camp' for the top cyclists in the tourist village of Ballyvaughan in Co. Clare, Ireland. Pat invited Eddie to come along to the camp and meet the Irish riders.

This video was recorded at the end of the week long camp, Eddie reflected on how the week went and his time in Ireland. Sadly, only a few years later Eddie Soens died in 1985.

May he rest in peace.
