Cyclocross live stream generates almost 80,000 views

TG4 will broadcast highlights of the Cyclocross National Championships on Saturday, February 15th at 4:55pm. The 1-hour highlights show will feature action from an enthralling weekend of racing in Enniscrone, Co. Sligo which saw David Conroy claim the senior men’s title and Maria Larkin dominate in the senior women’s race.

The highlights show has been given priority within TG4 scheduling to ensure there are no major sporting clashes and maximise viewership figures. Further broadcast dates will be scheduled by TG4 over the coming weeks.

A first for Cycling Ireland, the event was live-streamed through Facebook with commentary and interviews by regular TG4 Tour de France commentators, Padraic Quinn and Sean Ó Tuathail.

“The live streaming was a huge success with 78,000 views and 1,600 hours of content watched on the Cycling Ireland Facebook platform. The broadcast allowed us to showcase this fantastic discipline of cycling to both existing fans and to open up the sport to a much wider audience.”

“We have proven there is a huge appetite for this type of high-quality content and new opportunities for sponsors looking to support our work in growing and developing cycling in all its forms” commented Cycling Ireland Marketing & Communications Manager, Scott Graham.

In another boost for the sport, Dublin will feature on the 2020-2021 UCI Cyclocross World Cup schedule for the first time. The event will attract riders and spectators from Ireland and around the World.

The Cyclocross National Championships live streaming and TV broadcast was supported by Ballina Cycling Club, TG4, Enniscrone Tourism, and Velotec.
