Race Director, Alice Sherratt has announced that Dublin based Bicycle and Baby store, Eurocycles Eurobaby have committed to sponsoring the Junior Tour of Ireland for 2018. The popular 6 Day international cycling race for under 18’s will once again return to their now traditional base at Ennis, County Clare for the fifth consecutive year.

“Eurocycles Eurobaby have been sponsoring our green jersey for the past three years and we are thrilled that they have committed to assuming the role of title sponsor for the 2018 edition”, stated Sherratt. The news allows the organisation to fully focus on this years edition which is just over 6 weeks away with entries now open and the route to be announced in the coming days.

CEO of the Eurotrek Group, Mel Sutcliffe identified the Junior Tour of Ireland as an excellent opportunity to support one of the critical international stage races on the Cycling Ireland calendar. “To see the list of riders that have come through the Junior Tour is phenomenal. Today we see the rise of Sam Bennett (Winner 2008) winning three Giro D’Italia stages and also Eddie Dunbar (2-time winner) establishing himself at the highest level of professional racing.

Without international races like this in Ireland aiding athlete development, the large amount of talent we have in Ireland could go undiscovered”.

The race runs from the 10th to 15th July in County Clare and has enjoyed a steady increase in participation with teams travelling from the UK, USA, South Africa and the Netherlands to compete against the Irish Juniors.
