The popular Gorey 3 Day is unlikely to be run again. 54 years ago Sam Darcy organised the first Gorey race from Bray to Gorey and back over the Easter weekend. Sadly Sam passed away 9 years ago and race was kept going by the his club The Irish Road Club and organiser Alice Sharratt.
However in recent years it has been difficult to keep the race as it was based in Gorey town with the increased population in the town. And last year when Covid struct it was decided to call it a day. It's not all bad news as a new Easter weekend stage race will instead be run by the Wexford wheelers when the racing resumes.
