The Garda Cycling Club promotion in the Phoenix Park Dublin. A massed start race covering 25 laps of the two mile circuit finishing on the Main road. Apologies for the picture quality, the video was copied from an old VHS tape copy, however some people may like to see events from the past as not much video footage is available.
The Phoenix Park was a popular venue for cycle races, in recent years the traffic calming and increased traffic has put an end to cycle races in the park.
The 50 mile race was won by Tony Lally of Kalkhoff CC, Scotland's Jamie McGahan was 2nd, popular Meath man Seamus Kennedy came 3rd, Dublin rider Brendan Madden was 4th, Tommy Mannion from Tuam came 5th and promoting club's Adrian Byrne finished 6th. Young Peter Stewart of the Orwell Wheelers was first placed junior.
The race was promoted by the Garda Cycling Club and sponsored by Beaver Bosch Ireland
