Olympic Federation Names Six Youth Riders for European Youth Olympic Festival in North Macedonia

Cycling Ireland welcomes this morning’s announcement on the selection of six young cyclists to represent Ireland at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Skopje, North Macedonia, taking place from July 21–27.

The riders selected will compete in Time Trial, Road Race, and Mountain Bike disciplines. The Cycling Ireland team is as follows:

• Aoife Craig
• Emer Heverin
• Katie Turner
• Caleb McGreevey
• Tom Lane
• Rian McCrystal

The EYOF provides a vital international opportunity for talented youth riders, many of whom are approaching a key transition point in their cycling development. As they look ahead to junior racing, this event serves as a bridge between national-level competition and elite international racing.

Team Manager Michael Black commented: “These riders have earned the opportunity to test themselves on an international stage, and this is a brilliant development milestone for them. EYOF gives them a real sense of what it means to compete at a high level, alongside the structure and standards expected in elite sport. This is a proud moment for the athletes, their families, clubs, and coaches and an exciting step in their long-term development,”

While these athletes have not yet entered Cycling Ireland's Performance Pathway Programme (PPP) which is designed for junior riders, their progress to date reflects the strength of the development pathway in Ireland. Events like EYOF are key markers that help identify and prepare riders for future progression into PPP and other structured performance environments.

Cycling Ireland would also like to thank Gavin Noble and all the team at the Olympic Federation of Ireland (OFI) for their guidance and support in the lead-up to the event. Their commitment to youth athletes has played a crucial role in helping this team prepare for EYOF.

Cycling Ireland wishes the team every success as they compete and grow in this prestigious international event.
