MCCAULEY FINISHES SIXTH OVERALL IN MTB WORLD CUP

Jenny McCauley finished off a strong season with a good ride in the final round of the Marathon World Cup in Roc d’Azur, France, last Friday. The Bikin’ Cyprus rider placed tenth out of 40 women in the race, finishing an excellent sixth overall in the Marathon World Cup standings.

The overall honours went to Switzerland’s Daniela Louis, ahead of compatriot Esther Suss and Anna Enocsson (Sweden). Mauro Bettin (Italy), Alban Lakata (Austria) and Dario Acquaroli (Italy) were the three top riders in the men’s competition. McCauley’s husband Richie finished 21st.

The quality of McCauley’s ride is reflected in the fact that she finished 103rd out of the total of 992 riders (both genders) who competed in the final round. Joe McCall and Mark Kenny were 261st and 349th respectively, placing 95th and 127th out of the 380 riders in the Masters 1 category.

Alison Sydor (Canada), Roel Paulissen (Team Giant Racing Team) and Bart Brentjens (Giant Racing Team) won the women’s, overall/Elite men and Masters 1 classifications on Friday.
