47 brave souls took to the start at Mondello Motor Racing circuit this last night for the latest round of the Bike Worx Race Series. The weather was atrocious with some saying it was even worse than last Tuesdays Leinster 3 Day race held at the same venue.

The race distance was shortened as was the handicaps and as the scratch riders started 3 minutes behind the A4s, Damien Shaw (Lakeside Wheelers Mullingar) wasted little time in eating into the handicap. In fact Shaw was the only rider to bridge the gap to the leaders and as he worked his was off the front the only rider to hold his wheel was Graham Thomas (Staggs Lucan).

Thomas lost contact going out on the final lap and had to work hard to hold off the chasing groups but managed to hold onto second place behind shaw. Darragh Mortimer (Epic MTB) who debated as to whether to start or not having watched riders turn up to sign on and then change their minds, obviously made the right choice as he came home alone for third spot with the group sprint being led in by Ciaran O Conluain of UCD.

Next round of the Bike Worx series is Tuesday 7th August with racing starting at 7:30pm sharp.
