Clonard Road Club ran the Cycling Leinster road race championships in the county Meath village of Clonard. There were two separate races, the main race for all seniors and juniors plus a separate race for all the masters categories. Both races did six laps of a circuit totaling 75kms.
In the main senior event, the racing was very aggressive, with many attacks, all of them getting hauled back except for the last 5km of the race. The final run to the finish was along a straight flat main road into a headwind. You wouldn't expect a break to succeed but 3 riders, Padraig Moran (Orwell), Rhys Kenny (UCD) and George Sevastopulo (Sundrive) gave it a go and held the gap to the finish.

In the last few hundred meters, junior rider George Sevastopulo produced an impressive sprint leaving the two seniors in his wake and clinched the title of Cycling Leinster champion.

The rest of the field was led by Ruairi Woods (Burren CC)
MASTER'S Race

In the masters race, current Irish Master 40 champion Ronan Killen (Lucan CRC), jumped away from the field on lap 4 and rode half the race on his own to add the Cycling Leinster championships medal to his collection.

Bryan Geary (St Tiernan's) led in the rest with Paul Norton (Bikefit) and Colm Bracken (Kilcullen) close behind.
