Team of Four Announced for Upcoming Cross-Country European and World Championships
|
A team of four riders will head to the upcoming UEC European Mountain Bike Championships in Monteceneri, Switzerland, with the same four heading to the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole, Italy.
Chris Dawson will compete in the Elite Men’s XCO race at both European Champs and Worlds. Dawson recently took his another XC National Championship in Co. Waterford, and is no stranger to representing Ireland in international competition, having represented Ireland at European and World Championship level on several occasions previously.
Recent Women’s national champion Greta Lawless will represent Ireland once again in Switzerland and Italy. The first year U23 rider has ridden for Ireland on multiple occasions previously as a junior and rode on both the road and mountain bike at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Maribor, Slovenia in 2023. Lawless has had a strong year so far, winning the last round of the UK’s XC National Points Series with Dawson Racing and several strong outings with her new road team in Simpson Nouvelles.
Two Junior Men will make both trips. Ryan Daly and Caleb McGreevy, who took first and second respectively at the weekend’s XC Nationals will make both trips. First year junior McGreevy has recently made his debut for Ireland on the road at Course de la Paix in Czechia and in 2025 represented Ireland at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje, North Macedonia on the road and mountain bike. Second year junior Daly has gotten plenty of international racing under his belt over the last 18 months, with strong performances at Junior World Series races across Europe and North America, while also representing Ireland at last year's World and European Championships.
