European Road Race Championships

O’LOUGHLIN, MANNING BEST OF THE IRISH IN EUROPEAN UNDER 23 CHAMPIONSHIPS: (Aug 6) Dublin cyclist Lorraine Manning proved best of the Irish in the European under 23 championships when she finished 34th in the women’s road race in Poland.  In the men’s event, David O’Loughlin crossed the line in 49th position, part of a large group which came home 53 seconds behind winner Graziano Gasparre of Italy. Stephen Gallagher was the only other Irish finisher in 129th, as both Paul Healion and David McQuaid climbed off during the race.

Edita Pucinskiate (Lit) winning stage 7 of the women's Tour de France at the top of the Tourmalet last Saturday in front of Joane Sommariba who took overt the race lead
