Cycling Ireland are seeking expressions of interest for members who wish to be included in a Working Group to review the 2023 calendar and racing make up with a view to making improvements that can be rolled out over the 2024 and 2025 Seasons.

The Calendar And Racing Review Working Group will be led by our Cycling Ireland Events Coordinator, Aaron Johnson, and we hope to receive interest from Provincial Coordinators, Promoters, Riders and anyone with an interest in working to improve our calendar and events going forward.

Focused targets will include but not be limited to:

· Calendar
· Types of Racing – format, distances, categories etc
· Grading of Riders
· Youth.

The group plan to meet virtually in September, October and November – with initial recommendations to be included in the Calendar for 2024, and a report back to the CEO and Sports Operations Director in December with further recommendations for future improvements.

Expressions of interest should be sent to aaron.johnson@cyclingireland.ie on or before 7th of September 2023 at 5pm.

Paul Watson, Sports and Operations Director said:
“2023 has been particularly challenging for our event promoters, who have faced increased costs and in some cases reduced entry numbers, so much so that a number of events had to be cancelled. We hope that by brining this expert group together to plan for the future, it will allow us to build a structured racing program that appeals to current riders while attracting in new riders across all age groups. I know we have the people out there that can help us move forward and I look forward to receiving and delivering on their feedback”.
