Riding the event as a warm-up before tomorrow’s road race championships, Nicolas Roche finished a distant 31st in the 30.5 kilometre European time trial championships in Otepää, Estonia, yesterday.
He finished 3 minutes and 24.85 seconds off the gold medal winning pace set by Christian Muller of Germany. Muller was 31.22 seconds ahead of Slovenian rider Janez Brajkovic and Alexey Esin of Russia.
Tatiana Guderzo (Italy) won the women’s title with a storming ride in their 23.1 kilometre test. She finished almost a minute clear of Madeleine Sandig (Germany) and Anna Zugno of Italy.
