WEEKEND RESULTS: WINS FOR KENNEALLY, O’BRIEN AND CONNOR

One week after he took the Cycleways Cup in Navan, Brian Kenneally (Myhome.ie/Dunboyne CC) today won the Newbridge Credit Union GP. He beat Greg Swinand (Usher IRC) and the Murphy & Gunn/Newlyn Group trio of Isaac Speirs, Derek Burke and Sean Lacey at the end of the 73 mile race.

Linus Murphy (Polar SK) led home Sean Bracken (Usher IRC) and Noel Maloney (Euro Baby CC) to be first senior 2 rider, while Richard Dunne (Usher IRC) bested Terry Ferris (Murphy & Gunn/Newlyn Group) and Eddie Lynch (Orwell Dundrum TC) in the combined senior 3/junior/veterans event.

Gillian McDarby (Usher IRC) and Geraldine Gill (Navan Avonmore RC) were first of the women.

In Banteer, County Cork, John O’Brien (Dan Morrissey) beat John Horgan (St. Finbarr’s CC) and Owen Concannon (Killorglin CC) to win the Mick Cahill Memorial. Vinnie Gleeson (West Clare CC), Michael Butler (Nth. Tipperary CC) and Aidan Crowley (Dunboyne Cycleways/Myhome.ie) filled the top six places.

Sam Bennett (Dan Morrissey CC), Anthony O’Brien (Fermoy CC) and Denis Dunworth (Killorglin CC) were the first three riders home in the combined senior 3/junior/veterans’ race.

Up north, Ryan Connor (Giant Asia) finished 41 seconds clear of Martyn Irvine (Ards CC) at 41 secs and 3 minutes 33 seconds up on Simon Williams (Orchard Wheelers) in the Surgenor Cup on Saturday.

Uel Cunningham (Team Bib Sports/Michelin) finished two seconds ahead of a group to win the B race. Tim Edgar (XMTB) and Sean Downey (Banbridge CC) were second and third.
