With the Murphy & Gunn Shay Elliott due to kick off on Sunday, Irish professional squad Murphy & Gunn / Newlyn Group / M. Donnelly / Sean Kelly are also in action in Mallorca this week at the Cinturon Ciclista a Mallorca. After three stages, Glen Bak has proven to be the most consistent of the squad, which also includes Paidi O'Brien, Simon Kelly and John Dempsey.

Having placed 15th on the opening stage, the team's Danish rider repeated the result on stage two, narrowly missing out on the win. "Paidi and John were in the main break of 19 riders," said Kurt Bogaerts after the stage. "John got dropped but Paidi stayed there until the last hill and was third across the first category col De Soller. It was a very hard stage with a lot of climbing. When the group came back, Glen was in the final 29 man move of the day and he jumped with one kilometre to go. Unfortunately he got reeled in, but moved up to ninth overall with another 15th place on the stage."

The former Unibet stagiare took a fine fourth place on the 131kms stage three today around Snat Magalida and now lies in eighth place overall, just 40 seconds behind race leader Andreas Schillinger (Sparkasse). The rest of the team finished in the same time. With two stages to go, Paidi O'Brien lies in 35th overall at 9.56, with Kelly 43rd on the same time. Dempsey is 36 minutes down in 113th place.
