The fourth stage of the Kerry Group-sponsored Kerry youth tour 2.5 mile circuit took place in killorglin this morning. The race began with the category 3 riders taking off from the square in killorglin town. The riders began racing just upon Langford Street in Killorglin.

With Ciara Mulholland, holder of the yellow jersey, breaking away from the bunch, she set the pace for the rest of the riders. It wasn’t too long before she was followed by Matthew Davies from the club Scottish Provident Isle of Man squad and also by his team-mate Matthew Bostock. They finally had her in their sights along their descent from Gorman’s Cross, 0.7 miles into the race.

The Scottish Provident Isle of Man riders showed their determination when they caught Mulholland and stayed with her through the T-junction on the Beaufort road and also along the Annadale road. Unfortunately for these determined young riders, they were no match for her in the sprint towards the finish line.

Once again there was perfect racing conditions all through the day. The category 2 racing was very competitive, with the spectators witnessing a lot of attacking from the Gentse Velo Sport riders. Unlike yesterday, Dylan Jaspers took first place. Yesterday’s victor Otto Vergaerde was second, followed by James Baryons. Both of these are also Gentse Velo Sport riders. They worked as a team all through the race and received all they deserved upon coming across the finish line. Vergarde also took the King of the Hills jersey.

The category 1 race was very eventful with the Turkish riders putting the pressure on the other cyclists in the race. They had a total of ten laps of the circuit today, with each lap ending with a hill climb. The winner of the race was once again Adam Yeats, followed shortly after by Mehmet Owron and Emre Ucar.
