2022 Road National ChampionshipsÂ

A strong field has gathered for the 2022 Cycling Ireland Road National Championships this weekend in Cork promoted by Munster Cycling.
Defending champion, Ryan Mullen is listed to start, and Irish cycling fans will be hoping he along with the other World Tour professionals can make the journey back home to compete. The race will be hotly contested with Eddie Dunbar, Ben Healy, recent winner of Rás Tailteann, Daire Feeley and stage winners Rory Townsend, Matthew Teggart, Adam Ward (U23) and Kevin McCambridge (U23) all due to race. Sam Bennett is also on the start list but it is unclear if he will be able to travel home for the race. The Senior Men’s race incorporating the U23 race and will be contested over six-laps totalling 160.5 kilometres. With 95 riders (54 elite and 41 u23) on the start list, this year's National Championships is shaping up to be an exciting one.
2021 Women’s National Champion, Imogen Cotter will not be competing this year as she makes a steady return to training after being involved in a crash earlier in the year. The Irish Champions jersey will rest on someone else’s shoulders next year, ones to watch will be 2021 runner up Megan Armitage, Mia Griffin, Alice, Sharpe, Caoimhe O’Brien and Eve McCrystal among others. The senior women’s race will be contested over 104 kilometres which includes one lap of the 59-kilometre loop and three laps of the 15-kilometre loop.
The junior men’s race will see 36 riders battle it out over 119 kilometres which includes one lap of the 59-kilometre loop and four laps of the 15-kilometre loop. The junior women's race will be contested over one lap of the 59-kilometre loop, starting at 9am on Saturday.Â
