Entry for An Post Rás na mBan 2017 opens today as teams and riders from across the globe confirm their plans to race in Ireland's premier women's cycling event next September.

As in 2016 the entry process for teams and riders has been streamlined using the Eventbrite online entry system.

Team managers can add their specific team name to the system after which they, or team riders, can add up to five riders to the roster.

Team officials are asked to ensure that they use the same team name for each rider added to the squad and avoid team duplication.

Closing date for team entry is 16th August while rider names can be changed after entry and before the final rider confirmation date on September 4th.

The event is not open to individuals. It is for teams of five riders representing teams or clubs registered with national associations affiliated to the UCI.

The 2016 running of Ireland's premier women's bike race was the biggest yet with 25 teams on the start line for the 11th edition of Rás na mBan in Kilkenny last September.

The 2017 event will be the second in County Kilkenny and the 31st anniversary of the first Irish international women's stage race, the John Hearn Memorial held in Tipperary in 1986.

Full details for entering Rás na mBan can be accessed here:-

Full route details will be announced in the coming weeks.

About Rás na mBan

Rás na mBan (it translates from gaelic as 'Women's Race' and is pronounced 'raws na mahn') is Ireland's only women's international stage race. This premier five-day event takes place from September 6th to 10th this year and will again, as in 2016, take in the beautiful scenery of County Kilkenny in 2016. Top international riders from Europe and beyond compete against the best riders in Ireland for the coveted title.
