TRADERS CUP RACE DUNDALK - A1, A2, A3 Race Pictures

Some pictures from the event taken by Peter Purfield

Drizzle fell as the A3 group leaves the startline for 6 laps of a 17km circuit around the Carlingford peninsula on the outskirts of Dundalk

The A2 group on its was with a 4 minute handicap


The scratch group starting with 8 minutes to make up

At about 11km into lap 1, Ryan Mullen (Planet X) the current national junior road race champion was away on his own.

The A3 group has lost 1 minute 40 seconds to Mullen who is out front on his own

The chasing A2 group is 4 minutes 50 seconds down on Mullen

The scratch A1 group is 8 minutes 28 seconds down on the leader

The rain has eased off and Ryan Mullen is settling into a nice rhythm on lap 2

Lap 3 - Mullen still way out in front

3 riders in pursuit are at 3 minutes 50 seconds

The rest of the A3 group are at 4 minutes and 6 seconds

The A1 scratch are at 7 minutes 46 seconds

Mullen now on lap 4 - he completed the last lap in just over 25 minutes

The A3 and A2 groups have merged

The A1 scratch group

Mullen crosses the finish line with two laps to go

The chase is on - three riders in pursuit at 2 minutes 40 seconds

The next group at at 2 minutes 50 seconds

And the A1 scratch group at 6 minutes 8 seconds

Thomas Lavery (Comeragh CC) wins the Traders Cup ahead of David Wherity (M Donnelly Stamullen RC) and Oriel Corbo (Henry J Lyons)

Danny Bruton (DID / Dunboyne) leads in the rest of the bunch
