SWORDS GRAND PRIX - A1 / A2 Race Pictures

Some pictures from the event taken by Peter Purfield

The Swords GP started in Ballyboughal and shortly after the start Martyn Irvine instigated a breakaway

The race used the old Liam Toolan circuit that had the Nevitt climb. First time up the climb Stephen Sullivan leads the breakaway group over the top

Paul Griffin at the front of the chasing bunch about 35 seconds back

The Garda motorcycle leads the race up the climb for lap two

The lead group is down to six riders

Irvine punctured out of the break and tries to chase back on.

The chasing group is getting smaller

On lap 5, Irvine has got back to the front group which is now down to four riders with only one lap to go

The next group

And another three riders further back

The finish is on the top of the climb and Irvine comes home to win on his own


2nd and 3rd finishing

4th, 5th and 6th finishers
