Some pictures from the event taken by Peter Purfield

The first group off was the A3's - the race went straight out the old Galway road to Kinnegad and back 35Km each way



The A3 group started 2 minutes behind



The A1 and A2 riders made up the scratch group another 4 minutes behind the A3's



The A3 group quickly caught the A4 group in the fist 20Km and here a Bohermeen rider jumps away on the climb out of Rochfordbridge

A few kilometres later as we head into snow a breakaway of seven riders has left the scratch group

The scratch group

Just after the turn in Kinnegad the leading group has still over 2 minutes

Now with a slight tailwind the leading group puts the pressure on

The chase group is going clear of the scratch but is is a long way behind the leaders

The leaders going back over the climb, lots of riders going out the back at this stage

The chasers

100M to go - Tom Doyle (UCD) jumped away at 4K to go and is holing off the chasing bunch - inset shows a rider falling on the left side of the road

Yes, Tom Doyle makes it to the line with a few metres to spare


Brian Martin (Seven Springs CC) takes the bunch sprint for 2nd place from Darragh Mortimer (Epic MTB)

Colm Bracken (Murphy Surveys) is the first home from the scratch group giving him the Fastest Rider prize
