LEINSTER 3 DAY - Stage 3 Pictures

Some pictures from last night's event taken by Peter Purfield.

A formidable rider in his day, Ciaran McKenna would be better know these days as the Chief Judge on the An Post Rás, pictured here at the start of this years' Ras in Dunboyne with his assistant Eddie Keogh.

Ciaran McKenna is presented with the Leinster 3 Day Race Leaders Jersey by the Event Organiser Jimmy Stagg

The first group away is the A4's - the race will do 3 laps of the Mullagh circuit about 20km per lap

Closely followed by the A3 group

In the fist kilometer of racing 3 riders are already away in the A2 group

And finally the A1 scratch group 4 minutes back

At 15km: The leaders on lap 1

The scratch group is only 2 minutes from the front group

At 25km: The leaders on the climb at Mullagh

The scratch chasing now @ 1' 25"

At 40km: The leaders crossing the finish line with one lap to go

Race leader Ciaran McKenna comfortable in the front group

Lots of attacking in the scratch group who are now @ 1 minute

The chase behind looks a bit disorganised, they are now @ 1' 8"

The leaders at 10km to go

The scratch still continue to attack one another and the gap is down to 36 seconds

The scratch catches the leaders in the final 200 meters but it's too late for any of them to get placed
