Some pictures from the event taken by Peter Purfield

A lone rider breaks away in the first 500m

The A1/A2 race will do 8x laps of a 14km circuit = total 112km

At 10km four riders have a small advantage, just note the Ice Cream van - I haven't seen one in a race cavalcade before

Two riders try to get across to the leaders

The four riders are still out front on lap2

The bunch

A slight change around at the front as they start lap three



On lap four, more riders attack off the front on the small drag on the circuit



Crossing the finish line with 4 laps to go, a 12 man break is gone clear

Two chasers are 24 secs back

An the bunch at 30 secs


The break with 3 laps to go

The chasers at 36 secs and the bunch are at 54 secs

The lead group is down to 3 with 2 laps to go

The chasing group is at 26 secs

Martin O'Loughlin leads the bunch now 56 secs down

With one lap to go, leading the race Mark Dowling (Dectek) goes ahead on his own

The bunch is now at 46 secs and are about to catch the two other riders from the break

One the last lap the race came back together and Martin O'Loughlin jumped away in the last few kilometers

O'Loughlin holds off to win ahead of Orwell's Brian Aherne who took the sprint for second.
