Richie Byrne (Epic MTB) and the Offroad Commission are running 3 Introductory ( developmental ) XC Races this Spring. The First one is in Ballinastoe Co Wicklow on the 21st February.

The idea is to get more riders racing cross country (XC) and competing in the XC Nation Points Series (NPS). Richie says, "its been my experience that first time racers get destroyed at NPS level because they are thrown up against experienced XC racer and lack the technique and fitness to enjoy them".

The 2nd Round is Happening in Ballyhoura with the support of Limerick MTB Club and Round 3 will be in Galway in Derroura with the support of Darren McGann and Martin McNally.

The Courses are all in the Coillte trails and will be simple but enjoyable courses suitable for everybody. Richie says, "I'm hoping we can encourage new ladies and Youth riders from these races and I have broken the senior Category in to Sports A and Sports B.. sports A is for experienced sports riders and Sports B is for complete newcomers. there will be the usual under 8/10/12/14 Categories. U16 and juniors will be expected to race in either A or B depending on their experience".

Rob Cummins from Wheelworxbikes.com is the main sponsor with the Offroad Commission providing the overall Trophies and Niall and Tarja from Allmountain Experience providing Vouchers for one on one training as prizes.

We've arranged with Ballinastoe Golf Club for parking for the Ballinastoe race.
