Two UCI Junior races as well as a range of exciting support and youth races will take place before the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup races at the Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin.

Flanders Classics along with Cycling Ireland and Sport Ireland can confirm that both a junior men and junior women UCI Cyclo-cross race will be held on Sunday, December 11th, on the morning of the elite World Cup races that afternoon.

The women’s junior race is slated to get underway at 9.30 am while the men’s junior race is set to start at 11 am.

On Saturday, December 10th, Cycling Ireland members will have the opportunity to take on the special purpose-built course themselves ahead of the big race.

A range of exciting support races for U14 and U16 boys and girls along with adults will be held on Saturday between 12 noon and 1:45 pm on the Sport Ireland Campus.

Cycling Ireland Chief Executive Officer Matt McKerrow said:

“The support races on Saturday are a brilliant chance for Cycling Ireland members to ride the world class course and really get a feel for what the professionals will take on the next day. We can’t wait to see everyone out on their bikes and enjoying what is sure to be a special weekend.”

“Priority access to entries will be provided to Cycling Ireland members and with a selection of youth races on offer it promises to be a great family occasion. The Junior races will complement the elite women’s and men’s races and provide a stern test for those aspiring to progress to the senior elite ranks.”

Sport Ireland Chief Executive Officer Una May said:

“Sport Ireland is delighted that these support races will be taking place as it will give keen amateurs and aspiring young people a chance to experience the same course as the best cyclo-cross riders in the world. Supporting both high performance sport and participation are two key pillars of Sport Ireland’s mission and being able to link the two is hugely valuable. We’re very much looking forward to hosting these events on the Sport Ireland Campus, which is becoming a successful home for major events across a wide range of sports.”

Entries for the support races will open at www.cyclingireland.ie/events/find-an-event/ at 10am on Wednesday, 9th November. Entry numbers are limited so register early to avoid disappointment.
