Caoimhe May and Chris Dawson soloed to victory at the Cross-country National Championships on July 23rd at Bellurgan Park.

Hosted by Bellurgan Wheelers, both May and Dawson retained their national titles from 2022 in impressive style.

Caoimhe May

Right from the start, May opened up a lead which grew bigger with each lap to ultimately take a convincing lead. The Orwell Wheelers rider has shown great form winning each round of the National Series that she competed in. Junior rider Áine Doherty finished in second place while Hannah McClorey rounded off the podium.

Chris Dawson

Dawson proved much too strong for his competitors finishing some five minutes ahead of his nearest rival. It was a much closer race between Dean Harvey and Darnell Moore with Harvey taking second place in the end by 21 seconds.

In the junior men's race Travis Harkness and Curtis Neill had a tight battle over the first two laps with Harkness leading the race however an unfortunate mechanical in the third lap cost him dearly. Neill went on to take the win, with Harkness finishing in second place and Jake White in third place.

Faith Robinson took victory in the U16 girls race while Curtis McKee won in the U16 boys race.

It was a close battle between Rian McCrystal and Caleb McGreevy with McCrystal taking the win in the end in the U14 boys.

In the masters categories, Lindsey Watson won the M30 category, Brian Melia picked up the M40 win while the M50 category winner was Robin Seymour. In the M60 demo race, David Lawless took the win.
