Back in June and July of this year, John Chambers visiting Ireland from the UK completed a cycle touring circumnavigation of 2016 miles around the coast of Ireland in 31 days.

Although it was one of the wettest and windiest summers on record, John battled on, starting in Larne on the 17th June 2012 he wrote a daily diary about his adventures and posted them on the web.

It's an excellent piece of work, and I'm sure many cyclists both leisure and racing alike will be interested to read about John's travels where he may crossed their paths.

Actual itinerary showing day by day journeys and mileage

DAY 1

Very early start at 6:00 to catch 7:30 P&O ferry from Cairnryan scheduled to be in Larne at 9:30. I arrived at the terminal on time i.e. 45 minutes before departure, after preparing bike and securing car and all items to be left behind. Parking is free and £28.00 single as a foot passenger was not bad I thought...  Day 1 continues here..

Ireland 2012 in 2012 is my tribute and challenge to the UK Olympic Year.

Being a cyclist and having done Lands End - John O'Groats,
Dover to Cape Wrath, 4 Corners of Scotland
and various other rides
I needed new challenge and new territory to explore.
And so was born a ride around the coast of Ireland
(North and South) - 2000+ miles.

These simple web pages are for those
interested in following my journey .

Many thanks for all your interest - John.
Happy reading - any questions feel free to contact me.
