Entries are due by the 28th of this month for the Greenstar Gorey 3 Day, which runs as per usual on Easter Weekend this year. Race organiser Sam D'Arcy has said that the new sponsorship will enable a generous prize list, with the first twenty riders overall taking home a minimum of 40 euro. There will also be prizes for unplaced veterans, juniors and teams, while the first eight riders on the three road stages will also be rewarded. Suki Ireland will also be supporting the prestigious event.
D'Arcy expects a good turnout from home and abroad for the three-day race. Nobby O'Reilly has confirmed that he is bringing a team from the US and there will be a team from England too, he said. There is also the possibility that a Dutch team will ride. The race begins on Easter Saturday with a 60 mile road stage. Traffic congestion has meant a slight change to the finish, with the riders due to sprint it out on a quieter road this year. Day two brings the customary 4 mile time trial and then four laps of a 15 mile circuit, while the riders will race 60 miles back to the finish in Brittas on Sunday 12th. The event is open to 2nd and 3rd category seniors, juniors, veterans and ladies. The closing date for entries is 28th March 2004. Those interested should contact Betty D'Arcy at 087 6258046.
