National cross country champion Robin Seymour added 25 more points to Ireland’s total when he finished a fine fourth in the class 1 Alanya International MTB Cup, held in Turkey on Sunday.
After over an hour and a half of racing he finished 4 minutes and 53 seconds behind the winner , Oli Beckingsale. The Great Britain rider was over a minute clear of the next competitor, Igor Bogdan (Ukraine), with Sergiy Rysenko (Ukraine) next over the line.
Seymour’s Ireland team-mates Conor McConvey (Ireland) and Richard Felle (Ireland) were 12th and 15th, and took six and one world ranking points respectively.
Irish riders have already qualified a bike for next year’s cross-country race at the Beijing Olympics. The ongoing campaign is an attempt to secure a second slot in the race.
