Robin Seymour took a fine second place in round one of the BCF NPS Marathon Series in Margam Park, Wales last Sunday. He and Team Endura/Voodoo/Singletrack team-mate Nick Craig pulled well clear of the rest of the field and fought it out for the win between them. Although Seymour was quicker on the descents, Craig’s ability on the uphill sections eventually saw him finish 1 minute and 40 seconds clear. Niall Davis made it two Irish riders in the top three when he finished a further 9 minutes and 22 seconds back, while James McCluskey was eighth.

The riders were also in action in the previous day’s round 2 of the cross country NPS, also at the same venue. The race was won by Oli Beckingsale, while Seymour recovered from a slow start to cut his way through the field and finish 6th, 4 minutes and 53 seconds back. Niall Davis was 12th, 8 minutes and 38 seconds down, while James McCluskey was 21st.

Tarja Owens placed fifth in the women’s race, completing the distance in a time 10 minutes and 53 seconds behind winner Jenny Copnall.
