Calling all riders who want to step it up a gear in the 2009 season! (Seniors, Juniors and Under 16 Girls).

After a great 2008 season of racing, the Women's Commission with Paddy Doran have organised a training day for riders on the 25th October in Avon Ri, Blessington, Co. Wicklow. Cost will be €20pp, which includes lunch. The Women's Commission will cover the cost of room hire, coaching and training.

The purpose of the camp is to guide riders through training for the Winter Months, with the focus on "How to make the move from being a Domestic/National Rider to Elite", and guest speaker Siobhan Dervan will talk about her experiences. Please respond by email ASAP- as there will be limited availability of places.

The aim of this day is to demonstrate and practise important general fitness training methods which will have most effect on fitness levels for next season and beyond. Riders will then be able to implement these sessions at home for the following months with the confidence that they are doing the most effective training with the time available to them.

The session will include a talk from Beth McCluskey to ensure that riders are following the optimal nutrition principles and practises from early in their training programme to achieve full benefits next season.

It will also include bicycle position and set up to ensure that riders can determine correct saddle height/position etc and begin training for next season with this set up correctly.

We also hope that this camp will inspire riders to achieve their full potential as cyclists and athletes.

This training day is part of the Development Programme, and is open to any riders who hope to improve their form in 2009, with a long term goal of the 2012 Olympics.
