DEIGNAN 41ST ON STAGE EIGHT

Ag2r La Mondiale pro Philip Deignan was 41st on today’s eighth stage of the Tour of Italy, finishing 14 seconds behind a 39 man front group into Tivoli.

Italian rider Riccardo Riccò proved quickest in the sprint to the line, taking his second stage win in the race.

Compatriot Giovanni Visconti (Quick Step) continues to lead overall. Deignan is 43rd, 11 minutes and 21 seconds back. He is ninth in the best young rider classification.

The three-week tour continues tomorrow with a 218 kilometre stage from Civitavecchia to San Vincenzo.
