The An Post M. Donnelly Grant Thornton Sean Kelly team maintained their control on the Vuelta a Extremadura in Spain today, with Benny De Schrooder, Daniel Lloyd, Irishman Paídi O'Brien (An Post - M. Donnelly - Grant Thornton - Sean Kelly Team) and Dan Fleeman remaining in the first four places in the overall classification.
The Irish-registered team defended De Schrooder’s race lead throughout the 176.8 kilometre stage, then at the finish the Belgian sprinted in third behind José Francisco Pacheco Torres (Barbot – Siper) and Vidal Celis Zabala (Barbot – Siper).
Lloyd and O’Brien were next home of the squad, placing 16th and 25th. The An Post riders were third in the team stage classification and remain on top in those overall standings. De Schrooder and O’Brien are first and fifth respectively in the points competition.
The 2.2-ranked event continues tomorrow with a 173.7 kilometre stage in Casar de Cáceres.
