Ag2r La Mondiale rider Philip Deignan finished 45th on yesterday’s third stage of the Giro del Trentino in Italy, reaching the summit of the Passo del Sommo two minutes and 17 seconds behind the Italian Vincenzo Nibali (Liquigas).
The 24 year old Irishman dropped to 35th overall, but will nevertheless be satisfied with his improving form. He starts today’s 178 kilometre final stage two minutes and 54 seconds behind Nibali.
The race to Pejo Fonti features the Passo della Mendola and Pejo climbs and is sure to further shake up the general classification in the 2.1-ranked event.
