Three days after he placed 57th in Amstel Gold, Nicolas Roche finished a solid 60th in today’s Flèche Wallonne Classic in Belgium.
The 24 year old reached the finish at the top of the Mur de Huy 3 minutes and 10 seconds behind the day’s winner Kim Kirchen (Team High Road), who outsprinted Cadel Evans (Silence – Lotto) and Damiano Cunego (Lampre) for the victory.
Roche was ahead of many big names in world cycling, including the Schleck brothers Andy and Frank, plus their CSC team-mate Carlos Sastre.
His cousin Daniel Martin continued to settle into the pro ranks on his debut season; the 22 year old finished 109th.
