Swift Racing rider Jenny Fay showed she is coming back to form when she placed second in Saturday’s second round of the Rudy Project TT Series held at Willoughby on the Wolds, at the Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire border.
Michelle Brown (Wyre Forest CRC) was quickest on the 29.2 mile undulating course, posting a time of 37 minutes 41 seconds. Swift was 54 seconds back, with Avril Swan (MI Racing) a further three seconds behind.
Fay was pleased with her showing. “The race took place on open and rolling terrain,” she told Irishcycling.com. “It was difficult in places to control the bike.
“I had had a setback in form recently, but I prepared myself for the race as best I could, both physically and mentally. I was happy with second place. It bodes well for my confidence for the remainder of the series.”
Fay was overlooked for a place at the world championships last year, and has set this as a big goal for the season. “I am targeting the Rudy Project Series this year in an attempt to improve my times and speed over the varying courses they provide in the 8 events. It’s all preparation for UCI TT events, and ultimately for worlds qualification.”
