Report from the recent Irish Intervarsity Championships held in the Phoenix Park.
A field of over 60 riders took to closed roads of a 7km circuit in the Phoenix Park for the Irish Intervarsity Championships. Maurice O’Brien (UCC) and Louise Moriarty (UCD) dominated the overall classification, both winning their respective road race and time trials.

O’Brien broke from a group of five to take victory in the 7 lap men’s race
Tim O’Regan (DCU) edged out Brian Crinion (DCU) in the sprint for second,
just ahead of Michael Reddan (DIT) and Chris O’Hare (DCU)
Louise Moriarty soloed to victory in the women’s 3 lap race ahead of Pauline Griffen (DCU) and Joanne Hickey (TCD)
The Time Trial was held in the afternoon on the Boot Inn circuit. Maurice O’Brien set the fastest time of 10:52,
with Paul Brady (QUB) 4 seconds back
William Connelly (LMIT) took third place in a time of 11:08
Moriarty took the ladies time trial with a time of 11:57, with Hickey holding off the challenge of Griffen to take second place by 5 seconds, thus securing 2nd place overall
