Bohermeen GP, we are happy to report that St. Tiernan’s CC rider Stefan Engemann has awoken. He sustained a broken skull and other injuries in the accident last Sunday week but is now on the road to recovery.
Stefan is likely to undergo a series of tests as part of the assessment of the situation. Visits remain limited to family members for now. Those wishing to pass on messages to him may do so by emailing sttiernanscc@hotmail.com.
His family and team-mates would like to express their thanks for the well-wishes he has received thus far.

ST.TIERNAN'S CC RIDER IN SERIOUS CONDITION
St. Tiernan’s CC rider Stefan Engemann had a bad crash 11 kilometres into the Bohermeen GP on Sunday. Without any warning, his carbon fork steerer sheared off at the stem and he hit the ground, suffering considerable injury.
As a result of the accident, Stefan has a suspected fractured ankle and knee and, more seriously, a punctured lung and a fractured skull. He also has some bleeding on the brain and is being kept under heavy sedation.
There has been little change in his condition since the crash. His prognosis is uncertain, but his family, team-mates and friends clearly hope that things improve and the Dundrum resident is soon fully conscious and on the road to recovery.
Stefan is a popular team-mate of those in the St. Tiernan’s club, many of whom have visited him since the accident. In a bid to keep numbers low and to allow the doctors to treat him, the hospital he is in is now limiting visits to family only.
However those wishing to send messages may do so by emailing sttiernanscc@hotmail.com. These will be passed on to his family, and to Stefan himself when he regains consciousness.
We at Irishcycling.com wish him a complete recovery from his injuries, and hope he is back to full health soon.
