Ciaran Power of the Pezula Racing Team rode a confident race to land the ‘Carraig Cabs Cup’ yesterday in Carrick-on-Suir. The Waterford man is just back from South Africa where he was campaigning along with his Pezula team and his win demonstrated that the experience gained in SA in the last fortnight stood him well.
He soloed to victory ahead of Paul Griffin with Derek Burke in third. The event was dominated by a group of 12 who after the first of three laps had a margin of over three minutes entering the penultimate circuit. Also it was very evident that the first three across the line are members of professional outfits.
In Batterstown a former professional soccer player with Bohemians, Anto Moran was the winner of the St. Patrick’s event.
